Huge Enshrouded update delivers the community’s most-requested feature, plus musical instruments for jam sessions-

Keen Games just delivered the community’s most-requested feature for co-op fantasy survival game Enshrouded: player-based quest progression has finally arrived in today’s update, meaning you won’t be shut out of quests just because other players on your server have already completed them. Hooray!

“All missed quests are listed in the quest journal, which can be toggled on at any time, allowing players to personally complete them with or without their friends,” says developer Keen Games, noting that the community has been asking for this feature since Enshrouded launched into early access in January and that it collected 19,000 votes from players on the game’s feedback board.

But that’s not the only change to get excited about in the huge new Melodies of the Mire update, which is live now. There are also melodies. And mire!

Let’s do melodies first: a new NPC has surfaced in the world named Valory the Bard, and when you awaken her she’ll teach you how to craf…

Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg chews AI cud with Nvidia’s Jen-Hsun Huang, talking about delicious cows, slicing tomatoes, and old Chinese guys drinking whiskey-

Watch On

Siggraph is an annual conference that hosts discussions on the latest trends and research in computer graphics and interactive technologies, but Nvidia and Meta’s CEOs somewhat ignored that brief as they sat down for an hour-long chat about all things AI, including generative systems, smart glasses, and a whole host of somewhat bizarre anecdotes.

It’s no secret that Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg is somewhat obsessed with the metaverse, augmented reality, and AI—the company has spent billions of dollars on VR and bought around 350,000 Nvidia H100 superchips to power its servers—so it’s only natural that he and Jen-Hsun Huang would have a lot to talk about.

However, the rambling chat decidedly lacked focus and if you’re looking for something to help with insomnia, then I wholeheartedly recommend giving the above video of the streamed discussion a thorough watch.

For example, the two CEOs wistfully talked about using generative AI to make pretty pictures…

Hotel Galactic is a cozy Ghibli-inspired crafting and management sim where you’ll host adorable intergalactic visitors-

We as cozy gamers have done our time managing farms, tea houses, items shops, and all manner of other properties. Now it’s time to take on hotel management. Revealed during today’s PC Gaming Show was a trailer for Hotel Galactic, a lovely looking upcoming crafting and management game about caring for an intergalactic rest stop.

I was immediately taken by its Studio Ghibli-inspired art style—which is a term that can get thrown around a little too widely, but seriously, look at it. The animated portion of its trailer has that hand-painted style with tons of hardworking animal creatures cooking delicious food, mopping the hotel floors, and tending to guests in the sauna. And don’t miss those magical flying sky ships either.

As for the crafting and management bits, you can see some of your helpful critters chopping trees and mining rocks, then building upgrades at a crafting bench out in the yard. From a side-on view of the hotel, a player spends those resources to cli…

My favorite detective game of 2022 has more cases to solve this May-

The Case of the Golden Idol, our favorite story of 2022 and my personal favorite detective game, will return with three more cases to solve in its expansion, The Spider of Lanka, on May 4. Master detective Chris Livingston sleuthed out the expansion last week, but now we have the full details.

The 18th century setting and off-kilter pixel art of The Case of the Golden Idol remain, but The Spider of Lanka’s story travels back one year before the original, decades-long murder mystery starts. Returning characters Albert Cloudsley and Oberon Geller are on a trip to the Kingdom of Lanka, a fictional location set in South Asia.

The Spider of Lanka will cover 50 years of “betrayal, greed, ambition, and death,” according to developer Color Gray Games. You’ll be tasked with combing through detailed scenes and playing murder Mad Libs with characters, objects, and text to piece together what happened and how it led to the strange events of the original story.

Spiritfall is an action roguelite with the combat of a platform fighter-

Recent action roguelike Spiritfall has a new spin on the genre, incorporating the combat style of platform fighters like Super Smash Bros and MultiVersus with the ever-upgrading power curve of the roguelike genre. By choosing from some 150 or so blessings your divine warrior can synergize out some wild combos to defeat your enemies—or make a bad build, die, and start over.

“Spiritfall is a fast-paced Action Roguelite with combat inspired by Platform Fighters. Slash, smash, launch, and wall-splat a multitude of enemies using an ever-changing arsenal of divine powers,” say the devs.

“This game asks the interesting question: what if Hades was Smash Bros?,” says a review on Steam—specifically, the review that has been marked as helpful more than the other ones. It’s a pretty succinct, direct way to sum up the fights.

Spiritfall has been in Earlyy Access for a while now, with a series of betas before that, but just got a proper 1.0 release on February 28. Th…
